ABOUT jENNIFER AND WILD MOUNTAIN THYME PRODUCTIONS

Some history...

I’ve been a small business owner and freelancer since the late 80’s. My first business was Music on the Move, a pre-school music program I offered to day cares and nursery schools in around Winnipeg.

Music was my main ‘thing’ most of my adult life. I’ve been a choir director, choral and vocal adjudicator and performer with the Manitoba Opera chorus and Winnipeg Singers. There was also a lot of Celtic music-making going on here and there—my roots are deeply planted in the heather and the peat…

In 1997 I began performing traditional Celtic music full time across Canada, the US and Scotland, touring solo or with my band, Wild Mountain Thyme, releasing 3 albums of traditional tales along the way. As they say, “there’s hundreds of dollars to be made in folk music…” so I also ran a home-cleaning business on the side, which gave me the flexibility to tour as needed.

In 2002, I gave up touring (and cleaning other people’s homes) to begin this current iteration of Wild Mountain Thyme Productions, first as a multi-media producer for my partner, and since 2014, as an elearning designer and developer.

I love bringing storytelling and its rhythms into the always evolving world of elearning.

How i work

Each elearning development project is approached with fresh creativity and enthusiasm to both bring the client’s needs to life, and to provide their learners with an interesting and challenging experience, one that is focused on knowledge/skills retention and relevant, real-world application.

Once elearning has been establish as the best tool for the situation, I work with stakeholders, SMEs, and where possible, the end user—the learner, to design, storyboard, develop, test and deploy the training.

I’m an organized and independent worker with high ethical standards, solid project management abilities, and strong personal communication skills.

I look forward to discussing your project with you!

Random facts

I’m a Canadian prairie girl. I love all four seasons, though some can seem too long and others too short.

I love to camp and swim in the summer and cross-country ski and veg in the winter.

I have a super-supportive and funny guy for a husband and an amazing, can’t-believe-how-lucky-I-am daughter.

I make a mean risotto, can fold fitted sheets without trauma, and am a pretty dab hand with power tools.
